Ethics Committee Workshop - Wednesday, January 25, 2012

This one-day workshop will provide foundational information and
interactive explanation about the roles and responsibilities of Ethics
Committees and committee members.  Content information is interspersed
with models and small group discussions that allow for integration of
knowledge with skills.  Participants will identify ethical issues,
identify skills and areas of knowledge important to consultation and
participate in a mock ethics case consultation. 

Topics will include:

• A brief history of ethics and ethics committees
• Theoretical foundations of ethical analysis
• Theoretical foundations - small group discussions
• Role of law in decision-making of ethics committees
• The structure and function of ethics committee
• Mock ethics case consultation
• One ethics committee's story and discussion
• Evaluating the work of the ethics committee

Summation and program evaluation
